Indigo NXT & Indigo Firmware Download:



Indigo NXT: (9.0 & 6.5) UI100, (9.0 & 9.0) UI200 
Indigo:  (E" 2.052 & "G" 4.027 & "H" 5.020 Indigo Control Board Firmware Revision)

NOTE:  Firmware Upgrade time has increased.  Average upgrade time at the ice machine is between 10-15 Minutes.   

(One Download for both the original Indigo and Indigo NXT). 


Common reasons for updating firmware include adding features to the Indigo Ice machine in lieu of changing the control board. Please exercise caution if you attempt to update the firmware yourself, Manitowoc Ice & Beverage encourages the use of Certified Service Agents to install these updates to avoid down-time and problems.        

Current Indigo & Indigo NXT Control Board Firmware

Step One: Format a 2 GB (or less) USB flash drive according to Parts Service Communicator MII-070.  NOTE:  2 GB (or less) limitation on USB flash dirve size only applies to the "E" Indigo Control Board.  All other control boards have a limitation of 32 GB (or less).  For further specifications on USB Flash Drive sizes or formatting, please visit the "Flash Drive Formatting".  

Step Two: Download and save the zip folder of Firmware from this website to your computer. Unzip the to a folder on your computer.

Step Three: Copy the (18) firmware files from your computer to USB flash drive. Do not place these files into a folder on your flash drive as the ice machine will not look in a folder for its files.

Step Four: Take USB flasdrive to an Indigo or Indigo NXT Ice Machine and update firmware through the USB port on the ice machine control board.

Indigo NXT Video for upgrading Firmware:  English

Step 1:  You must use a 32 GB or Less USB flash drive and format to FAT 32 (8192 bytes or less Allocation unit size). 

Caution:  Not following this procedure may impede the upgrade process.
Note:  The following instruction for Upgrading Firmware applies to upgrades for the Indigo NXT control board. At a Windows Based Computer (PC)

 

Step 2: Download Firmware from website, www.manitowocice.com to your computer.

Step 3: Insert 32 GB or Less USB Flash Drive into a computer and Format to FAT32 (8192 bytes or less Allocation unit size).

Step 4: Open Firmware Zip and then open the folder.

Do not change or rename the files as that will impede the upgrade process.  Copy the 18 files and paste them onto your properly sized and formatted flash drive.

Step 5: Remove Flash drive from computer (suggestion: mark flash drive with the firmware revision to identify at a later date.)

Step 6:  Go to Indigo NXT ice machine and follow the downloaded instructions for upgrading firmware.

NOTE:  This chart is a list of the USB Flash Drives that have been tested with our control system.  If your USB Flash Drive is not listed, it doesn’t mean that it will not work.  It means that it has not been tested.

Indigo NXT USB Flash Drive Specifications & Formatting

Updating firmware on Indigo NXT model ice machines requires a properly formatted 32 GB or smaller USB flash drive.

USB flash drives must be formatted before use to remove any software programs or files currently on the flash drive.
 

USB Flash Drive Specifications:

  • USB 2 Version
  • 32 GB or less. 
  • Fat32 File System. 
  • 8192 bytes or less allocation unit size.

Indigo USB Flash Drive Specifications & Formatting

  • 512 MB File Allocation Unit. 
NOTE:  when choosing allocation unit size 512 may not always be available.  If this is the case, choose the smallest allocation size available. 

USB Flash Drive Formatting:

Procedure to format a USB flash drive varies with operating system software.

Windows Computers:

1. Insert USB flash drive; your computer may indicate:
 
  • Found New Hardware” follow the prompts to install the USB flash drive
  • USB flash drive may auto play - Close auto play window

2. Press Windows Key and E key simultaneously to access windows explorer.
3. Right click on your USB Flash Drive.
4. Left click on “Format”.
5. Verify or select the settings above. 
6. Left click on “Start” - You will receive a warning - “Formatting will remove all data” left click “OK”. A “Format Complete” box will display when formatting is finished. Close the pop up and windows explorer.

 

Windows XP Computers:

1. Insert USB flash drive; your computer may indicate:
 
  • Found New Hardware” follow the prompts to install the USB flash drive
  • USB flash drive may auto launch - Close auto launch window.

2. To access Disk Management:
  • Left click on the Windows Start Button
  • Left click on “Run”
  • Type compmgmt.msc and left click on “OK”
  • Left click on “Disk Management”.

3. Verify USB flash drive capacity. 
4. Right click on the USB flash drive, then left click on “Format” from the drop down list.
5. Verify or select the settings above. 
6. Left click on “OK” you will receive a warning - “Formatting will remove all data” left click on “OK”, wait until formatting is complete and “status” indicates “Healthy”, then close the disk
